Dis must be my rucky day! (35 of 40)

Like I mentioned last night, today was Suncoast's "anime thing" which apparently is called Animania. I woke up just in time to get dressed and drive over to Colt's to pick him up, arriving just as they were setting up. I probably would have woken up sooner, but I didn't manage to fall asleep until after four AM. Around 1:00 I got into bed to get some shuteye, but I ended up tossing and turning for almost an hour. Blaming it on the bed, I went to the living room to see if the couch might be more comfortable. It wasn't. Next I tried to wear myself out with TV and got all of Bleach cleared off the DVR except the newest episode. I even got to see the Morgan Fairchild episode of Home Improvement again. I finally managed to rest when I went back to my bed and threw everything onto the floor except what I was using to sleep.

Anyway, we registered for the show and got a raffle ticket each. We also signed up for the trivia contest, since that was the only one either of us was particularly interested in participating in. We couldn't cosplay, since we weren't wearing costumes, the Video Game Tournament was out, because neither of us are at all familiar with the game (though I suppose it wouldn't have mattered), and I just plain suck at drawing, so I opted out of the Chibi Drawing Contest. Colt apparently didn't want in on that one either. We each got another raffle ticket for taking part in the trivia. The Trivia Contest was pretty easy for the most part, though they apparently didn't prepare enough questions. Toward the end they had to get more questions from the onlookers around the corral and even one from a participant (he was disqualified from that question). I ended up taking first place with 21 questions out of 30 correct, and Colt tied for second with 17 correct. What's funny is he was declared third place because the other guy's answer sheet had been reviewed before Colt's and had better spelling. Not that it really matters, since the prize was the same either way, but it's still kind of lame to get third place when you tied for second. Since I won, in addition to the Bleach poster all three of us got, I also got a copy of the first Bleach DVD. Later, when the raffle was drawn, my second ticket was one of the five called, winning me a Trigun ballcap (too small for my head, but whatever), a box of Pocky, and some sort of Domo-kun themed energy drink. I ended up giving the pocky and drink to Colt, as I'm not much of a fan of either. I wanted to find out the answers to the trivia questions I missed, but when I asked about them, the coordinators couldn't find their answer sheet. :(

I saw no TV crew at all, so it could have just been a Suncoast hoax. Either that, or the cameras were only there when Colt and I weren't, seeing as we spent a fair amount of time across the street at Barnes and Noble. While waiting for the trivia results and raffle, I discovered a fun little manga called Princess... something. Princess Revolution maybe, but it was pretty cute. Lots of monster fights and cute android antics.

The amphitheater where Funny Thing Happened was showing tonight was surprisingly difficult to find, even though I had just looked at the map before we left. We drove around for a good half hour before noticing the giant banner over the street we arrived from pointing it out. The show itself was pretty good. The speakers weren't that great, so the music was a little hard to hear sometimes, and Miles Gloriousus's mic kept cutting out during "Bring Me My Bride". Speaking of that song, I think I may have watched Bride of Berserk a little too much, because the actor for this production sang it noticeably different, and it irked me somewhat. For the most part, I enjoyed the show. Pseudolus was spectacular, especially during his death scene, when he ran through a series of quotes from classic cartoons, Sanford & Son, Streetcar Named Desire, Wizard of Oz, and a couple others, and Hysterium lived up to his name, just like the Bee claimed. Erronius was a hoot too, what little we saw of him. All in all, I'd call it a worthwhile first musical for me. I just might go back there next month for Seussical.

Well, I ought to get to bed. Even though I don't have to be at work until 3:15, I still have to call and schedule my eye appointment.
