Concrit Offer

Oct 04, 2008 23:27

ETA: Offer CLOSED.

All right. Apropos of nothing (and everything), I am doing a one-time-only service to the HnG community (well, specifically, the writers of the last BG round.) If you trust me as a beta-reader/editor/concrit provider, this is your chance. Sign up here with the URL of ONE and only one of your BG entries from this past round. ( Read more... )

Always, dear. But feel free to take your time, as of course I can't confirm / deny until the unveil.

(I would advise that you take her up on this, any and all - she completely de-failed Reflections on a Tin-Foil Moon for me last round, not to mention inspiring & shaping Will You Be My Rival? from the very beginning. Which may or may not recommend her to you; don't hold my unimagination against my beta ^.^)

Do you want it public or private, dear? The crit, I mean.

I'm open for either way, tbh. I leave it to you. If you're going to do a batch post, then feel free to slot it in?

No, not batch posting. I am doing editor/beta comments, similar to what I normally do with you guys. ^_^

even more reasons to grab this chance umarekawareru October 4 2008, 15:19:08 UTC
1) everything readerofasaph said.
2) when you think your fic is the lamest ever and that there's no way you'll be able to make it go where it should, she just comes in an makes a couple of comments that somehow make you see everything in a whole new light and, amazingly, how to fix everything that feels wrong. She did this for me when I was writing fifthmus and I can't even begin to explain how thankful I am to her for it. <3
3) she spots even the tiniest mistakes that one normally wouldn't notice.
4) as mentioned in the post, she doesn't just beta for anyone who asks, so this is your chance!

So what are you guys waiting for? ♥

I presume you are the author? ^_^ Also, I need confirmation of whether you want public or private crit. (You don't need to give me your contact details until after reveals.)

Yes, sorry. I am the author. Public before the reveal or private afterwards, depending on when you have the time.

Ai will be harsh. She will tell you what you need to hear, not necessarily what you want to hear. She might tell you the parts you're really fond of actually reek and you need to expunge them like you would cut off a diseased body part. Don't ask her to beta if you're just looking for a back-rub.

Sounds rough, but she'll work just as hard as you to make your piece beautiful. She has an incredible amount of integrity and dedication to writing -- and she will not allow you to put something out sub-par if she's betaing it.

Actually, I don't want to share her. So go away.

You've heard the story of how I told her to throw away a 6000-word chapter, right?

harumi October 4 2008, 16:02:12 UTC
It was the same chapter I got rather insistent over too, remember? I'm still kinda sulky that I got mentioned as being the forceful one when beta-ing that particular chapter. Especially when you told her to throw it all away, hahaha. I can't imagine what it must have been like before she went through you, because I think when I went all over it that was after you'd done that already.
