There are people like the ones who go to art school and get rules crammed into their heads in the span of four or five years. Then there are people like me: we tend to learn things over time.
The only stuff that ever I was taught, had been the generic grade-school art classes where every day was "free draw" day, or going to BOCES for Graphic Design, which wasn't technically the same thing. That was more of a "what does this shape symbolize, learn how to make a fukken resume you no good hippie, etc. etc." Not particularly a class where one learned the basics of drawing.
And yet over the years, I've improved worlds, just from constantly drawing and observing. I feel like a lot of the time now, I'm actually looking at how things are composed, and how proportions work. I still can't draw accurately for shit, but I feel like things are falling more and more into place.
Still stuck on what I actually want to do with my life, though. I like so many things that it's hard to just pick one thing and feel like it's what I'm meant to do. I like to draw…but I like to write, sew, cook, sculpt, sing, play guitar…bleh. I'd love to just be philosophical and maybe share a bit of my own knowledge with other people - I love helping others out so much, but I don't know if there's really a market for that sort've thing. 9_9 And to be honest, half the time I think I just spout bullshit, anyway.
