7:30 AM, and I'm still up. Later today I have a friend's birthday party to go to, and I just finished burning him a mix CD (because that's what you give friends as gifts when you're pretty much broke lol). My friend Jim is a few years older than myself, and he has the same love for '80s music that I do. I tried to put together a selection of harder-to-find songs that he isn't already familiar with-- or that maybe he is, but likely hasn't heard in a very long time. That's a tall order when you're into music as much as he is, but I tested the waters a while back by asking him "Hey, do you know that song...", so I know that at least a few of these will be new to him. Managed to stay away from Top-40 hits completely.
1. APB, "Shoot You Down"
2. Duran Duran, "Tel Aviv (1980 Air Studios Demo)"
3. Medium Medium, "Hungry, So Angry"
4. Department S, "Is Vic There?"
5. Eurythmics, "Monkey Monkey"
6. The Fixx, "Deeper And Deeper (Long Version)"
7. The Bolshoi, "A Way"
8. Lords Of The New Church, "Open Your Eyes"
9. Men Without Hats, "Antarctica"
10. Wire, "Ahead"
11. Translator, "Everywhere That I'm Not"
12. Peter Godwin, "Images Of Heaven"
13. Heaven 17, "Let Me Go"
14. Blancmange, "Blind Vision"
15. Kraftwerk, "Tour De France (Kling Klang Analog Mix)"
16. Yello, "I Love You (Extended Dance Version)"
I think it's a pretty sweet track list, if I may say so myself.
Got together with Sedge tonight (yesterday, I guess) to do some writing for the new Drama Armada song. We took a dinner break and ended up eating on the outside patio of a restaurant in Salem. All throughout dinner, people were walking by with their dogs, and it was about all I could do to not get up from the table and go give them hugs. The dogs, not the people lol. One person had this dog that was huge. I wasn't sure what breed it was, but Sedge thought that perhaps it was a malamute (and now that I'm looking that up on Wikipedia, it appears that he was probably right). While this dog was sitting nearby with its owner, a fire engine went by with its sirens blaring. All of a sudden, the dog just tilted its head up and began howling along with the siren lol. It was freakin' adorable. :3
Funny... I haven't been in the mood to write in my LJ in forever, and now, when I'm finally feeling like doing it, it's 8 in the morning and I have to get to bed. Oh well. Better to fall asleep now than when I'm driving up to Rockport later, I guess.
