This week I have officially been hired as a teacher. The job is 8th grade science in Marble Falls, which is Northwest of Austin and about 45 minutes away from Cedar Park. I was planning on looking for any job I could find teaching in the San Marcos area for this coming January and then spending the summer looking for a 'real' job, but this happens to be a position I was really looking for and it worked out that I got it, nice. They wanted me to start on December 10th, just one weekend after finishing my student teaching. I told them I could be there a few days that week but not the entire time because I need to wrap some things up in San Marcos but will be there the entire week of the 17th. I'm sure I'll know more next week.
Graduation is on the 14th at 6pm. I sent out invitations today. Don't be offended if you don't get one, they are surprisingly expensive, and you are all welcome to come, let me know if you want more details. Hopefully I'll have time to figure out some way to have a party at some point, but right now I've got more important things to consider.
In related news I'll be moving soon, I'm going to stay with my parents for a while while i get loose ends tied up here in San Marcos and probably start looking for something in the Lago Vista area. I don't want to live in Marble Falls because I already run into a lot of my students here in SM and know that in MF, being a smaller community I would run into them everywhere. Plus Lago Vista is a nice middle point where I have a short commute into Austin to hang out with friends and a short commute to MF for work.
My parents bought me a new laptop for graduation. It should be here Tuesday or Wednesday and I'm really looking forward to it. The old beast BJ gave me has held up wonderfully but it's time for an upgrade.
My grandparents are coming in for the graduation and staying through Christmas and I'm excited to see them. It's been over a year and a half now.
I'm a little sad about leaving SM there are a few people I will miss dearly and many that I'll remember.
