YAY!!

Jul 19, 2006 11:06

I know, I know. My subject title is so dumb, but I'm not really in the mood to think of anything creative at the moment. Besides, I'm kinda sleepy since I stayed up until 3 AM last night playing solitaire and I'm really hungry right now (I think that my stomach is going to roar any minute now).

OK, since I know you guys are wondering why my subject title says "YAY!!" (and I know you guys aren't really wondering why because you probably don't read subject titles anyway and now I just drew your attention to something so mundane that you over look everyday). The reason why I'm so "YAY!!" today is because of Monday and because of something very exciting (now I got your attention and redeemed myself from that stupid little note about my subject title).

MONDAY

I GOT MY COURSES!! AT 9:45 AM, I logged on to ROSI and got my courses!! Yayness!! (Yeah, yeah, I get it.) This is what I'm taking:

ANT333Y1 - Living Primate Adaptations
CLA233H1 - Intro to Roman Culture and Society
CLA305H1 - Theories of Myth
CLA336H1 - Roman Law
NMC251H1 - Ancient Egyptian Lit
NMC260Y1 - Intro to Archaeology of the Near East
NMC343H1 - Ancient Egypt I
NMC344H1 - Ancient Egypt II

Everything ended up pulling together beautifully on my timetable. I think I might change my subject POSTS and do a minor/major in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations and apply for a Museum Studies grad program instead of Classics (that way I wouldn't have to learn any intensive Greek or Latin). YAY!!

OK. Now for the other thing: I'M GOING TO WASHINGTON!! What makes it so exciting is the fact that I'm going BY MYSELF!! NO PARENTS!! But my sister might be coming. It's not too bad, I figured I'll have someone who I really know with me and who better than Patricia? (Well, Paula would've been just as good, but she has her own tourney that weekend). This means that on Labour Day weekend, I'll be in Washington D. C. for the North American Chinese Invitational Volleyball Tournament!! Sweet!! I feel like an athlete. Very cool. And the great thing is that my volleyball club doesn't make the tourney feel like it's super important and as highly competitive as it probably is. That's just fine with me, since it's not that much pressure and I'm just doing to have fun and play volleyball. I still have to get the details about the hotel and junk, but it's pretty much set. I'm so excited!! Yayness!!

Elsewhere in my life, it's been not as exciting. I wrote an Evolution quiz yesterday. It was alright. I think I've become indifferent as to the urgency of how well I want to do on these tests. I'm thinking that just as long as I pass, I'll be happy. For this test, it wasn't too bad. But I ended up making up a lot of stuff and I know that one of my answers was wrong, but I really couldn't remember the third place in South Africa where Australopithecine fossils were found other than Swartkrans and Taung, so I put Toumai. I know this doesn't really matter to you guys and you probably don't know what I'm talking about, but that's the only thing that is somewhat bugging me about this quiz. Other than that, I think I pass. I didn't leave anything blank, although I know I'll be missing some marks because I just couldn't provide enough info about the question to really answer the question. Oh well, I'll get it next time. :D

Yesterday at my Evolution lab, we were observing stone tools. It was pretty nifty, right until I attempted to make my own. I was the only person I the class to try it out and everyone gathered around me to see me do it (I know, me + stones = weirdo). I suck at tool making. I could not cut it as a Homo erectus or Homo habilis. What I did end up cutting was the palm of my hand while I chipped off this tiny piece that flew to who knows where in the room. I didn't even know the rock would be so sharp at the bottom where my palm was. It was pretty funny and I actually had a little puddle of blood in my palm and I didn't even freak out (compared to when I get paper cuts lol). But I certainly would like to try it again. :D

On Monday I met up with Martyna and - surprise! - Bruna after work. We hung out for a bit before Bruna made her way to class and Martyna and I set out for our weekly bike ride. We ended up going to Cherry Beach and waded in the water (the only thing that wasn't in the water was our heads lol). And since there was so much seaweed, we decided to have a seaball fight. It's pretty disgusting, but when you squeeze out the water, the seaweed makes a pretty good ball lol. On the whole, it was a pretty good day.

Oh yeah!! I just remembered that Bruna is also taking both the Ancient Egypt courses, so we'll have a class together!! Good times!!

It's taking me forever to write this entry. I started it at 11 am and it's already 2 pm. I really am writing a novel hahahahaha!! But then again, I ended up writing a lot about my stupid subject title lol. Silly silly me. I think I should just shut up now. I wanted to write about this little TV show that I saw last night on TVO (the channel of my childhood) called Critter Cam, but since I'm going to be leaving soon, I might just put it in a different entry (if I feel like it later on).

I have volleyball practice to get to soon. First, I have to pick up my socks that I forgot at home from Patricia at her work. I hope that sentence just made sense, because it didn't seem like it made sense to me when I was writing it, but in retrospect, it made perfect sense.

Peace out, T. Dot!!

(Yeah, yeah Patricia, I'm such a homo. :P)
