The other night Risa and I went down to Georgetown to celebrate Kidder's birthday. There were 19 people total that went to Benihana's. The food was good and the chef entertaining, but the service was terrible. By far the worst service that I have ever seen. Here's a sample of one of many conversations with the waiter:
Kidder ordered a vodka cranberry more than 15 minutes ago and the waiter is showing up with a shot of vodka.
Kidder (much more politely than the situation warranted): Excuse me, I had ordered a vodka cranberry.
Waiter: A cranberry vodka?
Kidder: Yes a cranberry and vodka.
Waiter: So you want a cranberry?
Kidder: Yes.
Waiter: with Vodka?
Kidder: Yes.
Waiter: OK
The waiter takes the shot of vodka and disappears.
...20 minutes later...
The waiter shows up with vodka and cranberry juice in a shooter glass with no ice.
Everything about the service was terrible. We never got some of the things that we ordered, we couldn't get water at all, we were billed incorrectly, and the things that did show up, took much too long.
Although, in a completely unrelated incident later that night, while driving Marisa's car home I stopped at a light in DC and a homeless man on crutches crutched his way out in front of the car. He said that he wasn't going to move and that I would have to run him over. He apparently wasn't serious about this threat though, as he shortly came around the side of the car and made claims that I was a homosexual (something he claimed to have proof of). After making this claim he seemed satisfied and proceeded to move to the next car over and accost them.
Incompetent waiter and crazy homeless guy warrant a Trapezoidasaurus tag.
