Been a while since I posted, so there won't be dates or times on anything. And don't expect things to follow chronologically.
Went to go see (well, mostly listen to) the BSO at the Strathmore (I think that's right. There are two places that I always confuse. And even though the internet would tell me with very little effort on my part, I don't feel like checking just now.) with the Stangers. They played a sampling of their schedule for this year. My co-worker has just informed me that the BSO plays at the Meyerhof; the Strathmore is in Bethesda. The music was good, and contrary to expectations, Marisa did not fall asleep during the quiet bits.
Marisa and I started taking Einstein to our local dog-park, which, thankfully, is very close to the apartment. The park is split into two sections, one for little dogs and one for big. Mostly we keep him with the little dogs, but, if there aren't any little dogs there when we go, we take him over to the big dog side. It's funny to see him antagonize the larger dogs and get them to chase him. He's much faster than he looks. We didn't realize just how fast until we brought him to the park and let him off the leash. Although he will never be as fast as some of the longer legged dogs, he turns on a dime and can fit under the benches even at full tilt. Several times I watched him get four or five large dogs chasing him and then do a 120 degree turn and let them all pile into each other trying to make the corner.
The last time we brought him to the small dog side he got to wrestling with a dog twice his size and after much back and forth pinned his opponent. When he had the other dog on it's back and was straddling it victoriously, he looked around as if to make sure Marisa and I were watching. I've never been so proud.
The hard-drive on the desktop that I use at work died over the weekend. On the plus side: I am getting a new machine that is much nicer than the old (it will have a sound card for one). On the minus: I am still waiting on said machine which was supposed to be set up this morning and I have run out of work that I can do on the loaner that I am typing this on (hence the Super Tuesday Update Spectacular). AND, I also lost a whole bunch of work info that I needed. It's all backed-up in various places, or is otherwise recoverable/regeneratable, but it's still a tremendous pain and waste of time.
Marisa and I went to a pub down the street from our apartment. The food was good and it turns out that it's one of the few places that Marisa can earn miles at. Best of all; it's in walking distance!
I have an older co-worker that still plays D&D (something that I left in Maine and still kinda miss). She invited me to play with them and I cautiously accepted. I was worried that her friends would be weird and or socially underdeveloped (like the people that I met when Marisa and I went to a boardgaming meeting), but they were cool people, kind of reminded me of some of the older CSHers that I've met. Speaking of which, Risa and I ran into the Speeks(<-not spelled right) when we went to go see Ocean's-the-one-they-should-have-done (which was good(better than 12 at anyrate(but what isn't))).
OK, now I'm rambling. Time to wrap this up. The guy is done setting up my new machine so I am going to go over there and go crazy-go-nuts trying to get everything back to the way it should be.
