OK, so the other night I tore myself away from Warcraft long enough to install Oblivion on my new harddrive(courtesy awesomest girlfriend). However, when the installer had finished and I clicked 'Finish', the installer didn't close. Eventually I was forced to endtask the installer. I don't have a fix for you, but I can say that I have this for the 360 and it is hot.

windows installers keep all the uninstall information in the registry. If you can find out the GUID you might have a bit of luck otherwise you might be snafu =[

HKLM->software->microsoft->windows->current version->uninstall->[GUID]

unfortunately that doesn't tell you which files to uninstall, just where it was installed from and what the uninstall string is (as well as some other useless information for this purpose).

I would run ccleaner, find all of the orphaned entries in the registry and the files on the machine, delete anything oblivion related (you could search for "oblivion" in the registry, or any other keywords related to the game), reboot the machine, and try again.

Hmmm, sounds like you need a +5 installer potion. Try searching a dungeon or whatnot.
