So, last night Henry and Austin took me on my first long bike ride. By long I mean from my house to the University District and back. Which isn't really that long, but as someone who's only ridden a few blocks at a time, it felt long to me. I really did a lot better than I thought I would (except for when we rode back up Interlochen and I almost died like 8 times. It's so steep and long!), and Henry commented on my lack of complaining.
When we got to the UD we ate dinner at Flowers (which was pretty yummy), and then took the senic route through campus. But Interlochen.....oh god...there is this little wee bit right at the very begining that is seriously like a 60 degree angle.....Henry and I walked up, but I almost died just trying to push my fucking bike (stupid heavy mountain bike) up the hill. Then we got to the top and it was like, welcome to a quarter mile of more fucking hill. See, I might have not been so lame, but the seat on my bike is hells of low (a fact I didn't really notice before cause I had never ridden it very far) and I really couldn't fully extend my leg to pedal. So it was me trying to get myself and my heavy bike up the hill using my shin muscle. Not good. But once we got to Pine it was incredibly fun, bombing down the hill all crazy like (I did most of it with no hands!!) I have never felt so....warm in my whole life, I felt like a furnace was inside me and my face was crazy red. But it felt nice.
I'm not very sore though, which is nice, besides my ass...I can feel exactly where the bones were grinding against my seat. Ouch. I really would like to get my bike fixed up a bit and start riding on a regular basis. But I probably need a few more guided tours first.
ouch,
