People aren't always who they seem to be at first sight or impression. If you set someone up on a pedistool and you have all these great views and expectations of them, you are most likely gonna' be let down. When your infactuated with someone, it's hard for them to do wrong. But, eventually you start to notice small, insignificant flaws, which eventually evolve into larger problems and then you notice even more imperfections. As this happens your infactuation lessens to a mere crush, or something like it. At some point you will lose feelings for the ex-muse and will wonder what you saw in them to begin with. This isn't an every time thing, but it occurs quite often. When you have feelings for them it's wonderful. It seems as if you have more to look forward to if you are going to see them. But...there's gotta be a reason for this. Maybe this person isn't "the one." Infact, they could be completely differently than yo first thought. And the person they are now could totally turn you off and in this case it's good that you didn't "get them" or whatever. Or, if you did, it was good that you had that experience for learning purposes or it's good just so you'll know that they weren't the one and you won't regret not trying harder for them or anything like that.
