Live from Dunkin Donuts Part II

Aug 09, 2006 19:39

Has it really gotten so bad that I post LJ entries from Dunkin Donuts while waiting for laundry to wash/dry? Yikes! Well, I guess it's a good thing since I'm posting something I guess. Shrugs.

Summer is almost gone. This definately feels like the fastest summer of my life without a doubt. Maybe it's because last summer Eric and me went to his family's down the Shore(if ur not from NJ, this is the beach) in the backyard of their old house like every Saturday and Sunday. It was so much fun. Now that they've moved to a nicer house with an inground pool a beautiful lawn his brother in law doesn't want turned into a mud pit like we did to the other lawn, we haven't played volleyball on land but once in the park. Last weekend I couldn't stand it anymore so.. We decided to chip in and finally get a volleyball net/basketball hoop combo for the pool. Why we didnt do this in like uhhh.. June.. I have no idea. Anyway, it's fun to play in the pool but not as fun as on land. You can barely move in 5 feet of water to get to the ball when it's a few feet away from you and when you're on the shallow end of the pool you always slip on the slope into the deep end. On the land, all we had to worry about in dealing with water was when the ball went into the canal next to the old house.

Summer fun seems to have come very late this year. My tan has really started to kick in and for the first time since I've moved back to NJ, I'm actually getting tan lines on my feet from my Birks. Only time I've laid out in the sun this year has been by the pool at Eric's family unlike my previous sunworship years in NJ at the beaches and backyard. In NC, I was brown by the begining of June. Here it takes a little longer. AND NOW THE SUMMER IS ALMOST OVER!! ARGH!!! It's almost 8pm and the sun is slowly is begining to set sooner. The 115-120 heat index of last week is gone this week with cooler temps at night like 70 instead of 95 like last week. I'm really begining to think of NC more as someplace to go back to. Maybe I needed my summer vacation trip there which I didn't do this year to pacify my NC cravings for another year. Or maybe.. It's simply because I'm realizing that time is passing by and watching life go by dreading my Mon-Fri commute every week and just wanting to do more with my life and realizing maybe the best way to recapture MY life would be to force myself away from NJ to get out if the self-imposed exhile I've been living here. Time to go get the laundry out the dryers.
