my new car!
we spent a couple of hours wheeling and dealing at naples nissan with some old dear who seemed terribly ill-equipped for the pressure of car sales. she tried to put me in a brand new pathfinder for $31,000 but i was having none of it. she was getting right huffy with me because i kept bluntly refusing her weak compromises and picking holes in her pitch. i let loose with terms like 'invoice price' and threatened to go to miami. i was on fire!
i was going to walk, but she 'talked to her manager' and found me a used '08 in storm grey with 10,000 miles for $25,000. i was slicing prices like a samurai, prepared to walk out of there with nothing, and we settled on $23,400 including tax, title and tags with a free oil change. not bad for a certified '08 with low mileage and a factory warranty.
i test drove one: it rides smoothly but accelerates surprisingly fast. much faster than my clio. i almost ran a stop sign and killed us all. then i tested the stereo by playing outkast really loud in the lot. it sounded great. i'll swap out the radio for something made by pioneer with an iPod input, but the speakers are wicked.
