Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping

We went to the Capital City Bar and Grill for the monthly Liberty Brew and View event to see What would Jesus buy?

Good movie, Morgan Spurlock had a hand in it, so you can guess the tone. The story is about this guy who assembles this large choir and travels the country in a "church bus" to preach about the perils of overconsumerism at various shopping malls. The message is nothing new, but it was interesting to see Reverend Billy's angle and approach to it. Also pretty entertaining to see how security at the various sites deal with the CoSS, especially when they hit ground zero on xmas day.

About Cap City bar, I really liked it. The brew-n-view area is separate and pretty well maintained, it used to be a regular theater. What was once the lobby of the theater is now a game room, with pool, darts, pinball, and a few old school video games, including TRON! I didn't have time to play, but will return soon with a pocketful of quarters. We played a quick game of darts (cricket) before the movie. Apparently they hold darts tournaments there, so we'll have to come back to check those out as well.

Oh yeah, pretty decent bar food. I had a ponyshoe and they fulfilled my special request of making it with the cajun fried walleye instead of the usual meaty fare. pinktornado had the walleye sandwich basket, which was a lot. Even I couldn't polish off the extra fries, and that's saying something.
