Eurovision Song Contest tonight. It doesnt seem a year since the last time...
Graham Norton is doing a good job as Tel's replacement. And so far, its not much different.
Ive been watching it, as usual, with lots of wine, a good sense of humour, and subtitles on for the humourous translations of the lyrics.
So far its all been much of a muchness. All the Baltic songs sound similar, all the Balkan songs the same. The only stand-outs have been France, for a lovely ballad; Germany, for something which sounded really like Sam Sparrow; and Denmark for a song which was written by Ronan Keating and which the singer delivered in a manner which sounded eerily like Ronan...Stars in your eyes, anyone?
The voting will probably be no different from usual....Denmark, Sweden and Finland all vote for each other. Bosnia, etc all vote for Russia. People vote politically, instead of for the best song. Truly, its become a dinosaur. I only watch it for the laughs.
Edit: Im really sad I have no-one to share the laughs with, and they have been many. I think having someone to laugh, someone who shares your sense of humour and who understands what is amusing to you is almost more important than anything else.
