Friends
Had another wicked weekend. My friend Mikey who I did my PhD with in Brum was here for the weekend, and it was so fucking good to catch up!! He had spent the week in North Carolina at a conference and decided to stop by Miami on the way home. Despite having not seen him for almost a year it was like we'd never been apart and were immediately laughing insanely about old times and jokes and rapidly making up new ones. I love that about real friendship - it doesnt matter how long you go without talking or seeing each other or even really keeping in touch very well, as soon as you do get together, everything just slips back into place as though you last saw them yesterday.
We did various touristy things which were a lot of fun since I havent done many of the tourist things myself (you never do when you live there) and on Saturday we had a BBQ with the crazy russian and his wife as a kind of pre-birthday celebrattion. The BBQ was a lot of fun and everyone got on swimmingly. Dirk and Carolyn bought me a beautiful drawing set which Im really really pleased with. We also seem to have adopted a stray kitten cat, which is surprising in a way because usually I hate cats cus they make me so damned ill, but this little creature seems to have no adverse effects on me at all and also has the coolest eyes I have ever seen.
We have called him Cat.
