yatta! last night i finished harry potter. 2 months of flipping through my dictionary and i've finished my first real book in spanish. i read slowly at first, struggling against the current and stopping often to look up words or reread a passage. this early phase was the most exciting, it's easy to forget how magic reading is. cryptic squiggles in black and white; rows of data; pages of intricate meaningless patterns ::become:: people and places; conversations, thoughts and emotions; a story you become part of. and how satisfying. i started at one page a day, and finished at around 5 or 6. next up from a friend dos hermanos
