1 show down. It feels good to get the first show monkey of our backs. It's a stamp of legitimacy in my book. I will admit I haven't been so nervous to play in quite some time. To make it worse I probably played the worst set that I have ever played (at least in a long time). I guess it can only go up from here. The turnout was quite good, I didn't know what to expect, it was exciting and frightening all at the same time. The shitty thing is that Tim busted his bass drum head about 30 seconds into the first song. What are the odds? He was just a tad upset. Genius me did the old "start to play a song with your volume knob turned down" trick - it's a staple of mine - so annoying! Mark seemed to be having the time of his life (he told me that at 6pm a huge wave of nervousness hit him hard) despite the fact the he caught a cold a couple days ago and was worried his voice wouldn't hold up. We had to call upon his story telling skills after the drum debacle and fortunately he didn't say anything too crazy (he always has us rolling at practice with some off the wall tale). Hopefully when the next show comes around I'll have my new 4-string bass so I can rock out a bit harder on some punk songs. The first show is always hard cuz people generally just stand there and soak it in and from the performers' perspective this resembles boredom haha. I didn't do my pre-show yoga/ninja stretches and that may be a reason I felt so tense. Next time I expect some moshing! Thanks for approval Dom! lol! Pretty psyched for the battle of the bands tomorrow. Oh and the Mustache Bash will be insane. Wish us luck. I hope the rest of show went well tonight, I had to leave for work. Branchdweller Summer Camp sounded pretty sweet for the little part I got to hear. Rob and Megs worked pretty hard getting the show together so I have my fingers crossed that no calamities or major drama transpired. Sleepy now, got to make it through the next 90 minutes before I can go home. bah!
I'm on a huge In Flames and Alkaline Trio kick - I guess it's an uppers/downers thing or something. Gotta pick up the new Portishead and Atmosphere here soon.
