Several little things...

1) Awhile ago I purchased Tegan and Sara's "The Con". I'd never really been interested in them before, but this one was produced by Chris Walla(yay!), so I was pretty interested. He really injects a warmth into his work. Anyways, it's a great album.

2) Watched a movie called "Paris, Je T'aime" last weekend. It's a series of little films about love in Paris. Cast includes, Juliette Binoche, Elijah Wood, Bob Hoskins, Natalie Portman, and the ever sexy Willem Dafoe, plus other huge people who I can't recall at the moment. It's really great. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who really enjoys shorts. Short films (Fangoria's Blood Drive collection is great, too), short stories, etc. I guess there's not much money in it?

3) Yesterday, a lovely lady came into my workplace to get a rental account. She happened to be sporting both a skirt and an adam's apple. Whatever, it's cool. Dave served her and the rest of the store, both customers and staff were doing their best impressions of not noticing. Everyone was cool with it, but we're not used to it much around here. She was pretty stylish, and I glanced at the screen and she was signing up with a woman's name, so I guess she's legally made the changeover? How does the legal stuff surrounding that work out? Anyways, we treated her like just another customer, and rang her through, and just before she left, I started serving another customer. A young man, who's a regular. He looked at her a bit. And then she left. He and I got on with his transaction. And then he looks at me and goes:

"Was that a tranny?"

I just smiled a little and said, "I think so?"

Then he looked all embarrassed and said "It's cool, I'm cool with it, I just want to know!"

I just burst out laughing, I couldn't help it. I told him it was totally fine, I'm sure he wasn't the only one wondering, but the only one who asked.

Yeah, no one has a problem with it, but again, we're just not used to it!

I hope she comes in a lot, though. I guess I hope that about every new customer. It's always the possibility of a new friend.
