This weekend we headed to Zurich. We have a friend - Ian, who is currently touring with U2 - and he got us day passes to see them! We left bright and early on Saturday, got to Zurich, checked into our hotel and then headed out to the stadium to meet up with Ian and pick up our passes. It was lovely seeing him - he's been gone a few months now and will be on tour for at least a year - so it was good to catch up. He showed us around and everyone was just so incredibly friendly and nice. Helps that we had Maddi being her usual smily, friendly, chatty self. She waved and threw the 'rock horns' at everyone she saw - and everyone at least smiled back. Ian took us up on stage - OMG - the set and staging for the 360% tour is incredible. Then we went under the stage to where the band keep their equipment - saw a wall of guitars belonging to The Edge, and handful of basses - all super glittery and looking like an 8yr old girl had decorated them, belonging to Adam, and a jacket that Bono wore during the encores. All very exciting! I wanted to take photos of all the guitars but felt like that wasn't appropriate... so we didn't, but we took a heap of Mads hamming it up on stage. She has air guitar, drums and weirdly - flute, down pat!
Ian had to get back to work so we left, went back to the hotel to nap, then came back - ate in catering, and then watched the show. It was fantastic! There were only about 3 songs I didn't recognise during the whole set, otherwise it was hit after hit after hit. Spuer late night - Mads crashed on Ian's hotel couch while we waited for a cab, and we got back to the hotel about 1am. Met Ian for brunch the next day and then came back home.
