(no subject)
The last few weeks have been interesting... I told Jo - my current boss, and friend, that I had got the job at the nursery at Maddi's school, and that they wanted me to come in and work some days in December because there were 4 days when the kids who are going to be starting in January are coming in with their families to see the nursery and meet the staff, and as Im going to be staff in January it would be great if I could be there. Also they had one day where the nursery are going to the zoo to see a live nativity with animals, and it would just be a fun day out if I could come along. I told Jo that this was something they wanted me to do back when I had the interview, and she told me to give her as much notice as possible. So as soon as I found out the dates they wanted me I told her - that afternoon! She has been really off with me ever since, and sent me a string of grumpy, passive agressive emails to the effect that they have to know I still have a job till the end of Dec, and that it really wasn't great timing because I have to train the person replacing me, and it wasn't fair to her to throw her in the deep end and make her do 2 reading sessions in her first week, etc, etc. The person replacing me is an ex primary school librarian - I'd bloody well hope she has done reading sessions with kids before - and I think she'll probably be just fine! They only want me for 5 days - 2 of which I don't work anyway, and the other 3 I only work 1/2 days! I hope she gets over the grump in a hurry because its making the last month of working there really unpleasant.
In other, much cuter news I did a reading session on Friday with my open to the public group. We'd been singing a bunch of crazy songs and I asked if any of them wanted to choose the next song. Patrice, a super cute little girl just over 2yrs old comes over, wraps her arm around my neck and belted out 'Doleen, Doleen, Doleen, Doleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen, begging you please don't take ma man...' I had tears streaming down my face from laughing - she followed this up with 'Why why why Lalilah' I'm going to miss my reading group so much! I have such a bunch of characters.
