Same-sex marriage will hurt families, society
If I read one more criticism of Proposition 8 being overturned, I'm going to scream. Look, "traditional" marriage is already at it's fucking lowest point it could be. Divorce rate is, what, nearly half? Oh no, the Bible thumpers won't know what to do if same-sex marriage is legalized? Maybe they should stop hiding behind their book and take a look at what is just and right. If you are against same sex marriage, you are a bigot to me. I'm sorry. Most things have grey areas, this one does not. You don't want homosexuals to be able to legally be married? Okay then, that's your opinion, but you're a bigot.
I don't understand. How does it hurt YOU (the general you) if people of the same sex are married? Do you care about what other people do so much that you have to deny them happiness that doesn't even impact you or hurt you?
Oh, and the argument that it will screw up kids minds is bullshit. My cousin and his partner adopted a boy, and he's the sweetest kid. So nice, polite, and perfectly adjusted. All you have to do is explain to kids "Hey, some families are a mommy and daddy, some families are two mommies or two daddies, some families are one daddy or one mommy." They will understand. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for. Adults, apparently, are not.
