appointment done.
notable bits:
-the nurse remeasured my height as well as my weight because she didn't believe either number. surprise: the height was totally wrong. I already knew that it was, the nurse last time didn't actually let me stand up when she slammed the thing down on my head, and so she had me as 5'4". today's measurement? 5'8". ha. the weight was apparently off too, but whatever. I care less about weighing ten pounds less than was in the chart than I do about having apparently gained four inches of height (!)
-for some reason the doctor assumed when I said I had been to grad school that I had an MFA. I went, "no, I have a PhD in materials" and she was like, "...uh. so...what do you...do?" and I explained about the startup.
-have you ever had someone do a biopsy without anesthetic? because I have, now. the doctor did a physical exam and went, "Hmm", then told me basically that she would be more comfortable if we did a biopsy. I asked about local anesthetic, was told that it's not considered "painful" enough to need it, and next thing I knew, well. ow.
-I will find out what the plan is in the next two weeks, but post-biopsy and flushing of the affected area, she feels comfortable saying that it's unlikely to be cancer. there are two possibilities. one would be nice (we just wait and see, followup in six months to make sure that nothing has changed), the other is more involved (minor surgery...), but should hopefully be done with actual fucking anesthetic, jfc, so, you know.
came home, laid down, cried (because: OW + STRESS), read Murderbot (I'm doing a comfort re-read). picked up Max at 12:30, per his request. he could tell that I was pale/NOT DOING SO WELL when he came to pick me up, and asked if he could get me anything. I went, "yeah, um, if you don't mind" and sent him to Safeway to get me pads, because apparently I'm out, and after today's debacle it was like, "you know what? no. I can't do this."
so. he ran to Safeway for me, and got pads. took a picture of the box, and was very peeved when he got home and I sighed and went, "well, they're not the right ones" (they're the overnights; I just need the basic liners), but honestly it's the thought that counts, so.
he bought sparkling water for us, too. mango for me, blackberry for him. and chips, because I bought him Bitchin' Sauce in the grocery order, and he was out of corn chips. exciting life.
we got word today that his car is done, again. so we're going to drive out to Florence post-work tomorrow and pick it up. normally we'd have D&D on Friday night, but apparently not, because, well - yeah.
anyway.
I asked him if he was okay with pizza for dinner tonight, because ow, and he was like, "! yes!!" and so got us take'n'bake, ha.
he baked it and made me a plate because I am still like "OW", and that was nice. phew.
the only other thing is that we've agreed, sort of tacitly, that we're going to listen to Archive 81 in the car tomorrow on the way out to the coast. it's gonna be a good five hours of driving and Yours Truly is already dreading it (GOD I HATE HIGHWAY 26), so, you know.
we'll get there, I guess.
oh!
the seller's agent leaned on us hard to close early, so I caved and asked the lender today if we could move the date up.
she said yes, as long as they get amended close documents, and if it's possible, the lender would also like to move everything up by...two weeks.
ha.
so our new close date may be March 14.
we shall see how this pans out. I'm ready to buy primer and repaint the AWFUL GREEN LIVING ROOM, TEAL KITCHEN AND RED BEDROOM, good gravy. I'm anticipating that the painting by itself is going to take two to three weeks, and then we'll be able to move everything in.
Max is already fighting me on paint colors. can't wait to see how this one pans out. :P
