i tried to read "zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance" over the break but no such luck. i'd wanted to read it years ago because someone suggested it for me but i could never find it. so i finally found a copy at the guelph library and took a stab at it but i found it to move slow and it was too philosophical for my tastes. and i guess that makes me dense or flat but after a semester of close readings and looking for hidden meanings and tropes, etc i just wanted a fucking story. so if you can suggest a good read let me know because in a week i'll be back to regular stuff.
however, "zen" wasn't a total loss because i really liked one thing the author (robert pirsig in case you want to check it out) discusses early on. he writes about ancient greek philosophy and describes time in terms of the past being in front of you and the future being behind you; the past is all we can see and the future sneaks up on us. so i liked that and i thought i would share. because i like sharing.
coming soon: photos from the woodend/brown wedding, oh so classy :)
