Title: -- Pff what you expected me to come up with one?
Author:
unsolvableRating: PG for mentions of violence 8|
Characters involved: Yuri Nakamura, Hideki Hinata, Yui, Yusa, Takamatsu, TK, Noda, and the rest of the SSS. Subtle inference to Battler Ushiromiya, who she knows over the community.
What: The SSS has failed their mission! But Yuri's come up with an idea for them to make it up to her.
Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap.
The end of the pen hit the desk rhythmically. Yuri sat at her desk in complete silence beyond that, a look of irritation beyond irritation prevalent on her features. TK seemed hesitant to use the steady beat of her pen to start dancing, but did so anyway because it was in his nature and Yuri virtually never singled him out anyway. He seemed to be the only one to be remotely at ease as their vibrantly-haired leader’s frustration seemed to grow by the second.
Rather suddenly, Yuri raised her voice in a silence-shattering outburst.
"UUUUHG! It’s useless! It’s all useless!"
Yeah, she knew that wasn’t her line. That was someone else she knew’s line that most of them had no idea who was.
"How did you guys fail at a basic operation?! We do that one all the time! Even if Angel was coming, you still should’ve been able to get at least a few!"
Yuri stood up, both hands slamming down on the desk as she did. Stomping over to Hinata was the next step, followed by a smack to his forehead.
"Why me!? I didn’t do anything!" Hinata objected angrily.
"Because if I smack Yui for screwing up, then she’ll just get you back ten times for no apparent reason," Okay, that wasn’t the only reason, and Yuri wasn’t one to mince words, "It’s also more satisfying to hit you, but think of it as me doing you a favor."
Yui started snickering at this development as Yuri got an idea from her own words earlier.
"Since you guys failed, you’re going to have to do a punishment game, but this one’s going to be a little different and probably cause more emotional pain than physical, so prepare yourselves."
Yusa piped up in the back, very quietly, with "Isn’t that how Yurippe-san’s games usually are, since the pain is only temporary?"
"I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that."
Yusa was always teasing Yurippe about how she inflicted torture on the others and Yuri found she didn’t really mind that much. Yusa was probably one of her closest friends here, as odd as that sounded. That was probably the only reason that Yuri didn’t find it necessary to punish her for every other comment about how much she sounded (or acted) like a villain most days.
Maybe they were the bad guys. People who went against God, caused trouble, stole things, hurt others, and openly tried to repeatedly take out who they deemed to be God’s denizen... They were definitely the bad guys from any outsider’s perspective if the facts weren’t omitted. They were together, though, and none of them were forced to feel alone or scared because they had each other and they were going to make things okay. If God really wanted them to get better, he would let them have their rebellion and he would let them win; otherwise Yuri was never going to get out of here, and this cycle would never end.
Even if ridiculous games like these were the only way that she could rebel without becoming a murderer (even if they weren’t real people), she would take them. She would take every opportunity to confuse Angel or fight against the rules.
"Every one of you is going to pretend to be someone else in the SSS. If you do a bad job, I’ll assign you to someone else. You have to completely act like that person in any way you can think until the end of the day. If you do a good job, I’ll let you off with minimal punishment."
This was an unexpected development for most of the SSS. Usually the punishment games were much harsher, ranging from not being allowed to eat for a week to things too horrible to speak of that were so horrifying they changed a person’s personality (or so everyone claimed, but most of them seemed to be alright, if a little bit stupid. They were that way before Yuri got to them, though.)
Almost immediately after the few seconds of silence, they all abruptly broke into excited chatter, claiming who they were going to impersonate. Three people started arguing over getting to impersonate TK, while Yui exclaimed that she was going to be the best Hinata around! Hinata argued that she shouldn’t be allowed to impersonate him on the grounds that it’d just be offensive. Hinata then broke out into his rendition of Yui and they started growling at each other and fighting which.... really wasn’t remotely different, so Yurippe was about to tell them that they had to impersonate someone else until Takamatsu rather suddenly stabbed Noda through the chest and claimed that he had offended Yurippe and now he must die! Except Noda forgot that they were pretending, so SSS civil war broke out and--
"EVERYONE SHUT UUUUUUP!"
Their great leader Yurippe’s voice silenced the room again.
"Go do it outside of the room, I’ll be watching to make sure none of you screw up! Attend class today as well, in order to ensure that Angel sees the strange behavior and thinks something strange is happening!"
Yuri was grinning, despite her loud screams only a moment sooner.
"Perhaps we can draw God out with this punishment game. But, if you guys don’t succeed, it’ll definitely be a lot worse!"
As Yuri laughed, a few of the others gulped, then all ran out of the room as quickly as possible. Well, everyone except for Yusa, who slowly walked out, briefly displaying her own impression.
"Ohohohohoho!" It was a quiet, but obviously villainous laugh while she took her hair out of its normal pigtails and moved the bows to one side.
Yuri facepalmed, glad that she didn’t have to participate in her own punishment games-- even if she technically already had with her first words of the meeting, but there wasn’t a soul here who would know that.
Let the games begin.
