Munich, Germany
Oktoberfest 2014
Nothing like stepping onto German soil, because of the festival of beers! Hoho
It was quite the experience.
9 hour journey via bus was not cool. But good thing i quite like bus rides:)
Standing in the bitter cold while the sun had yet to fully rise at 7 in the morning outside the doors of the festival tent was torture. Doors opened at 9 and there was a mad rush, it was insane!
Got ourselves tables and we sang and drank and mingled. It was lovely meeting new people from all over the world. Walked around the festival grounds, it was a beautiful sunny day. Perfect for rollercoasters! Also, there were many high/over-friendly people, 'merlions' and sleepers by early afternoon. Haha what a sight!
Oh yes, i also realised that German security guards take their work Very Seriously.
Sleeping at our campsite was painful. Because it was FREEZING. Should have gotten more sleeping bags. Well, I guess that's just having the full Oktoberfest camping experience, eh? We got up at 4ish-5 in the morning, just to leave for another morning standing in the cold.
Day 2 was excruciatingly chilly! We spent 3 hours having beers before deciding to explore Munich's city centre.
I very much wanted to go to the concentration camp though:(
But my party wanted to head to the city instead. Oh well. Another reason to head back to Germany, heh heh!
Got the full traveling adventure by taking the different trains with locals and other tourists alike. It was really easy navigating our way around (thankfully)!
Right now, i'm still torn on whether i would visit Oktoberfest again, one day.
Hmmm
