Way back when I was a young and impressionable girl, popping Megaman X into my SNES for the first time, I started the intro stage and the music swelled and I thought: man, I think I'm in love. Fast forward to 2010. Over ten games in the series later (if we include the sidestories), I'm in my twenties, and I'm still a total dweeb for MMX. Who queues this music up routinely in iTunes.

This post is a linkdump of badass music to fight Mavericks to. This isn't every song in the series, just the ones I'm particularly fond of. Which is still plenty. I'm not sure if there's much of a purpose to posting this, really, but I had a lot of fun putting it together, so why not!

For the record: I think the best of the lot are X, X5, and X6, with X4 and X7 coming in just after them. X2 and X3 are decent but overall I'm not quite as fond of them, and X8 has a few amazing tracks (the ones I picked) and then a lot that I find pretty mediocre.

Megaman X
Opening Stage
Zero's Theme
Zero Dies (apparently titled something else, but it'll always be "Zero Dies" to me)
Storm Eagle
Spark Mandrill
Boomer Kuwanger
Armored Armadillo
Chill Penguin
Flame Mammoth
Sigma Stage 1
Sigma Stage 2
Ending (aka CLIFFTOP EMO)

Megaman X2

Opening Stage
Zero's Theme
Blast Hornet
Gravity Beetle
Toxic Seahorse
Vile Stage
Doppler Stage 1

* Aside from the PS1 intro, I've linked the SNES versions here because I like them better. The PS1 port remixed the old themes, and some of them do sound pretty different from their original versions.

Megaman X5
Opening Theme (this is actually the instrumental from the US release, which I find far superior to the vocal track used in Japan)
X's Theme
Zero's Theme
Sigma Battle 1
Grizzly Slash
Squid Adler
Izzy Glow
Duff McWhalen (actually just a remix of Bubble Crab's theme from X2, but SO VERY BADASS I forgive it)
Dynamo
The Skiver
Mattrex
Zero Stage 2
X vs Zero
Sigma Battle 2
Ending (credits from US version, though the vocal track from the Japanese release is good too!)
Stage Select (unused track; I assume it would've been the stage select after the Eurasia collision)
Deep Sea (unused track; would've been for Duff McWhalen had they not gone with the remix)

Megaman X6
Opening Theme (actually uses two songs, Moon Light and The Answer)
Opening Stage
Stage Select
