Just some news

Tonight Jenna and I are getting a room in Anaheim and then heading to Disneyland tomorrow morning. I love Disneyland, haven't been since the fall of 2006 when Jessie convinced me to get an annual pass and then stopped talking to me almost immediately after wards. I have a feeling that things will be different this time - I plan on only getting a day pass.

Some people bitch about the lack of Six Flag level rides but those people, in my humble opinion miss the point of Disneyland entirely. You don't go because "Space Mountain" is the greatest thrill ever invented; you go because spending the day at Disneyland is well, really cool and fun.

...privacy in a room will be really cool and fun as well!

About two weeks ago we went to Las Vegas together - call it a first vacation if you will. It was a splendid weekend. I got us a phenomenal deal on an off strip hotel/casino called Tuscany Suites and it actually was one of the nicer places I've stayed, up there with the Mirage and the Golden Nugget. Usually I stay at the Stratosphere and frankly, this blew it out of the water. The room was enormous; complete amenities, king sized bed, a living area etc. The pool was splendid as well and drinks were cheap. The room itself cost me $17 a night on the deal I got.

Gambling wise, I more or less broke even - up $25 - but spent a bit on food and a show. We saw a burlesque/freak show at O'Sheas next to the Imperial Palace. Also, all of Downtown had been turned into a staged rock festival that was dubbed "The Summer of 69'." It was totally contrived and sanitized like all of Las Vegas' non-gambling, non-sexual attractions but it was colorful and Jenna had never been downtown.

On the way back we stopped at the Mad Greek in Baker for some dolmeh and spanakopita.

Luckily the trip was phenomenal because almost immediately upon return Jenna, myself and my family spent last week utterly sick with a horrible viral cough that is only now beginning to go away and ended up landing my dad in the hospital for the weekend. He's okay but it was a vicious one, take my word for it. Today is my first day, in a week and a half where I've not been hacking and taking cough syrup and ibuprofen.

In other news, I need work and am on unemployment. I'm also studying for the GRE so that I can begin Grad school in fall 2010, hopefully at UCLA or UCI - barring that two years at CSULB for a MA and then a transfer to UCLA for a PhD. We shall see.

Finally, Sarah and I - after our GRE study session on Friday - are going to the National Air Guitar Championships at the Troubadour. It'll air-rock!
