I managed to get a little bit written on Found... 780 words? >.< but at least it's started, that's the important thing.
A few problems I'm going to face with this one:
1. Because it's from Rodney's POV, whereas
Lost was from John's, there's the technobabble problem. I'm not as talented as some of the writers in this fandom are at bullshitting my way through sci-fi-fake-science, even after 19 years of watching sci-fi. It's just not what I'm good at! I've managed to skirt around it once now, so hopefully I'll figure somethig out if it comes up again.
The storyline I have set up doesn't (I think) call for too much of it, but it this is Rodney we're talking about. Without technobabble, unless it's pure smut, it's just not Rodney. And I think he'd technobabble during hot, wild, monkey-ex, too. :P
2. Timeline. I wrote
Lost before "The Game" and "Sunday" aired, so now I have to work that into Found. Because I can't not. Canon character death? Come on, that's like cocaine - who can resist? (:P) So, I have to tweak the timeline a bit, to work the canon events to my benefit.
I think for the issues involving "The Game", I'm just going to assume it had already happened prior to
Lost. ...ETA: actually, now that I think of it, I kind of already did that with
Lost, didn't I? Because I mentioned the chess thing... woo, that problem is fixed... which means "The Game" must have aired before I wrote
Lost, and I'm just going crazy is all...
As for Carson's death... We don't really have a clear idea of how long there is between each episode, so I'm just going to pretend that the events of Sunday will play out right when I need them to. :P And I've already characterized this as a slight canon-AU, so I'm going to just do whatever works.
Also, might work the "First Strike" events into it, as well, or I may leave that for Home. Not sure yet. Maybe I won't use it at all, and just say it takes place after Home. But it could come in handy, as a plot device...
...
hmm... anything else?
I don't think so. Just those two issues, really.
Oh. It's definately not going to be finished by the end of the week. And next week it will probably not be worked on at all, as I have two midterms, but hopefully the week after that writing will resume and maybe by mid-March it'll be done.
But no promises.
...
Also, if anyone has any ideas about what to call the trilogy - Lost, Found, and Home - I'd really appreciate it. I think knowing the titles probably gives you a sort of idea of how it's going to work out, but I'm hoping I'm at least interesting enough in my writing that I can still throw a few twists in.
But anyways, for those of you who have read
Lost, do you have an idea for a name for the trilogy? (Yes, I realize this exculdes you, Diane, but your suggestions weren't exactly relevent, :P It would help if you'd read it, :P)
