hey all,
just thought I would announce to anyone/everyone interested that I was finally officially invited to serve in the peace corps, and I accepted their offer! I leave July 25 for pre-service traning in some big U.S city location and then on July 27, my training class of about 25 others fly to St. Lucia for our 3 month training. Because the Caribbean is PC's smallest region, I won't know my island placement until training (probably august). My official job title is "integrated community development and renewal volunteer" and i am going to be traveling all over the islands, maintaining a home base on one where my main ngo/cbo/nonprofit is, doing hiv/aids outreach and education among lots of other community-oriented help activities. I am so f-ing pumped but also very scared.
So, save your pennies so you can all come visit me and have the ultimate island experience, livin' like the locals. :) wooooooooot
