Holy crap! I danced for 5 hours at Oilcan's last night. Blisters might be forming on my feet. I ran into a few people that I had seen before, and made some friends. Several people received many odd text messages from me.
Earlier that I night I met up with some coworkers at Dave & Busters for a happy hour thing. One of them joined me on the Pump It Up dancing game, where we showed off our mad skilz - or something. I'm not anywhere close to the guys you see in the DDR competitions, but to the ordinary guy I look pretty damn good. They cheered us on, and I got a big ego boost.
While chatting at D&B, I sort of came out to several more people at work. I say "sort of" because I'm not in the closet; I just haven't felt the need to say, "Hey, I need to talk to you about this database table -- oh, and by the way, I'm queer." A couple of the guys at different times asked me which clubs I went to. I listed Oilcans as one of them. That didn't seem to phase them, and it turns out they had been there too (but they're straight). That was cool. I guess I've been sort of a mystery to some of the people there, and they got to see a different side of me. A girlfriend of one said, "I LOVE that place!" and turning to her man added, "We should introduce him to [some girl's name]." I locked eyes with the guy and smiled, mumbling, "you need to clue her in." I don't think she understood I went there for more reasons than just the music.
Overall, I had a great time last night. I'm not sure if I feel like going out again tonight or not. Either way I want to do something. Right now that something is laundry, and prior to that it was cleaning the bathroom, but hopeful it will change to something more entertaining later.
