First! Haha. I always let out a yell of excitement when I've seen that you've posted, I'm sure my husband is sick of it ;) Great stuff. Curious about the flashback to Snape's mother. Are we going to get an expanded background story for him? Can't wait to see what comes next.
When I planned out the story, I had intended to do memory clips at about the rate of Harry's dreams - so once every three to four chapters. People didn't really like them, they said that they were boring and they wanted to get to the Snape/Harry stuff. I chopped out all the past memories except those most important
what! that is offensive! the memories are great and are building Snape a comprehensive and compelling backstory beyond what he got in the canon! can I read the ones you took out?
I chuckled at the end. Snape is such a spy, isn't he? Thinking Harry is trying to conceal some master plan when, in reality, the boy is just trying to save himself the humiliation of being caught masturbating. Oh, leave it to Snape to think everyone around him is plotting! No person's actions are ever innocuous in Snape's eyes, are they?
The bit of memory of Snape and his mother struck me - I felt it right in my bones. Snape really knows grief and loss, doesn't he? I don't even know what to say.
And, ooooh, loved the parallel there between Harry's and Lily's comments on The Hunchback of Notre Dame!
Lovely chapter. Thank you very much for updating. You've made my day!
oh my... I read invictus and its pre-story last week and now i really want to thank you for this beautiful fic! Unfortunatly my english is crap, but i hope you will make some sense of this comment

Thank you so much! You are so correct in that he is entirely on his own side. haha I did not think of the Snape as Quasimodo connection, but you are entirely correct.
I love Goethe. Have you read Frankenstein? That is another must!
Just dropping a note to say thanks for another great chapter. It was cool to see Snape actually puzzled about what Harry was up to and trying to prepare for whatever 'Potter' was planning next. In NoG it sometimes seemed as if Snape was totally omniscient, like he was running circles around Harry and always almost toying with him. I guess that's natural from Harry's pov, since Snape's the one with the most information and the one devising and slowly devulging the plan, but it balances things out a bit to see that Snape is at least occasionally just as mystified by Harry as Harry was by him

"I can't give you what you want, but I will give you what you need." I knew it! I knew that wasn't a dream but reality instead! i love that scene - it's magical. The scene in the bathroom was excelllent. Poor Severus. He has a paranoia. As a spy - constance vigilance. He culd shake hand with Moody :)

If his thoughts behind the scene you mentioned aren't clear later, let me know. I had fun writing the Sisyphus scene from Snape's POV. ;D
