What is your favorite video game, period?
The question and replies got me thinking (obviously).
Fur Fighters
Skies of Arcadia
Sonic 2 and 3/K
Phantasy Star Online ver. 2.0
Soul Calibur
Final Fantasy 7
Those would definitely be on my list. But would Virtua Fighter 4 count if I only played it a few times and completely sucked at it? Would I say that King's Quest would be one of my favorite games? How about Lode Runner?
And then of course, there are the games which I haven't played yet which I still have every intention of playing in the future (Shenmue, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles The Crystal Bearers, Resonance of Fate, Monado, The Boy and His Blob, Metroid Prime, Mass Effect, and Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance) that may make that list...
Would I ever put up other games like Grandia 2 or Sonic Adventure? Honestly, I don't know. I liked them--a lot--and they were a lot of fun but there wasn't anything truly special about Grandia 2. Now, if SA didn't have Big or Knuckles' roles, I may put it up there. If it were solely Sonic, it would definitely be up there.
Then what about games that I myself never played but enjoyed watching to the degree that I'd say it's a favorite? Like Quake 2? Could I still say that they're favorites of mine?
