Looks like the world invisioned in Wall-E isn't so far into the future as we thought.
Makes me wonder, though. If the world put in the effort to collect and recycle all of that plastic, and SHUT DOWN all future plastic production in favor of recycling, might this be enough plastic to get by? What I mean is..... is there enough pre-existing plastic circulating in the world today to allow us to halt all new production and simply recycle?
Hm. I have no idea how to even go about researching this. It makes me wish I had the money and resources to just go out there with a barge and a net and set up my own recycling plant, though.
