Dad is about as stubborn as his father. My Pip had his legs shot out from under him during WWII and was stuck behind enemy lines for 2 weeks, killing enemy soldiers from the ground and basically dragging himself to allied territory. No way in hell would my dad do anything less. And the wierd thing is, its completely subconcious. I dont think he realizes how much of the macho bullshit environment he was raised in still affects him. Though I have to admit that once he turned 50 he finally mellowed and accepted the more sensitive part of himself as being "okay". He's a big sweetheart and would literally give you the shirt off his back, help you move and feed your cat, all while suffering from double pneumonia. And honestly, Im not really exaggerating. He helped his ex-step daughter move her stuff several hours away when she was going to college and gave her the money for the down payment for her apartment, all while batting Lupus and a few other ailments that were all cascading around him. The man constantly amazes me. I just wish he hadn't been born into a time and a place where men weren't allowed to cry. I think he missed out on a lot of the happiness he should have had just being allowed to be himself.
