Net troubles, Island, big bang (oh hell)

So, it turns out one doesn't have to be in the way of a tropical storm to be stranded offline. My internet was on the fritz for about two days, and they've only just fixed it. *knocks on wood* Just a day before ST BB submission date, now isn't that nice? I've exactly no idea how I'm gonna get anything done in time... >.<

Internet going out coincided with me getting my hands on Island. Well, that's one disturbing film. Right, first things first, Colin was outstanding. He scared me half to death with the easy, unbelievably easy way he transformed himself into this troubled person. For those who haven't seen it, I can only say that if you want to hug Merlin and feed him cookies every time he's treated poorly, it's got nothing -- nothing -- on Calum. God. He's precious. Like his treasure. I haven't seen Parked for obvious reasons, but from the role description, I just have to say, if Colin doesn't stop playing the homeless/underpriviledged/sick people any time soon he'll break my heart for good, he's doing it too bloody well. x__x

The film itself though didn't impress much. I dunno, maybe I was supposed to read the book first, though I confess, I have no wish to. It left the impression of being one of those stories that are written in a quest of seeking the attention of the critics, not for the sake of a story to tell. It seemed a bit -- pointless. Things like that happen? Yes, they do. What was it again you wanted to tell me? *shrugs* I had no fore-knowledge of this, so maybe I'm just incredibly ignorant. But it seemed a bit like a scare for the sake of a scare kind of film.

What have you guys been up to?
