Remember the Powershot A40 that I gave to my sister who study in Terengganu? Few days ago, she emailed me some pretty stunning photos that she took during the 7 Days SEATRU turtle conservation program at Chagar Hutang Bay, Redang Island. Chagar Hutang Bay is a private beach managed by University College of Science and Technology Malaysia
(KUSTEM) for the SEATRU (Sea Turtle Research Unit) turtle conservation program.
All Photos by Jean.
Heading to the sea. According to my sister, this poor little fella died a few hours later after she emerged alone from the nest, while heading to the sea under the scorching Sun.
Crystal Clear!!. The crystal clear water with a healthy house-reef right infront of the Chagar Hutang beach.
Fear-factor wannabe. Standing at the edge of a cliff over looking South China Sea.
Chagar Hutang Bay. The sapphire-coloured water of Chagar Hutang Bay looks so inviting. Isn't it?
Coast of Redang Island.
Turtle Trail? This was the track left by a female turtle that came ashore to lay egg the previous night. According to my sis, experienced researcher were able to distinguish individual turtle that came ashore several time within the same period just by their track. Cool!!
Monitor lizard came for lunch near the research station.
And even python too came to the kitchen for late night supper. Their supper - rats. o_O wah.....
It's true. Sharks do swim this near to the shore, but this 1.5m baby blacktip reef shark is harmless lah.
U see me. U see me not. One little tiny crab.
What else can you ask for? It's paradise here, just sit back, relax and enjoy lah!!
p/s : I'm so so jealous of sister now that I wish I could fly there straight for vacation. Very eager and looking forward to the SEATRU volunteer program on October 2005.
