Removed a contact for a different reason
Today, I removed someone off my contact list, not because the person got into an argument with me, or that we never talked, it was because they were killed by a drunk driver.

I am very sad to report that Furp has been killed in a motorcycle accident. Furp was a friend and Anthrocon staff member; many may remember him as the man with the medical bag who was the first one we called when we had any urgent health issues. Furp sat up with me through the night years ago when I took gravely ill at a convention, and was the first person in the fandom other than myself to hear the voice of Dr. K.
His boss told me the following:
Last night, Patrick (Furp) was riding his motorcycle near the 29 Palms Marine Corps Base (California) where he works. He was struck by a drunk driver, and died. The driver, a Marine, is currently in custody.
Who knows what will become of the marine that is responsible for doing this. I'm told by some that stuff like that that happens within the marines is kinda kept low and 'swept under the rug' if you will. I honestly do not know how the marine corps deal with this sort of situation. I know I have a few people on my friends list here that are in the marines who may have some idea.
I myself wasn't really "friends" with Furp, I just sorta knew him, and he sorta knew me, we talked a bit at MFF thats about it, but its still never a nice thing to wake up and read about.
I just find it really ironic that he was in the military, on front lines, dodging bullets, IEDs, attacks, only to be killed by one of his marine brothers when he retuned home to America.
