I'm going to this "Date to Remember" fundraiser thing tonight at the Vault. Something about auctioning off dates, not completely sure yet. But it's for a good cause....cerebral palsy.
I took care of a young man with cerebral palsy for 4 years and I just loved him to pieces. There was another teenager who had cerebral palsy that was wonderful to work with as well. I used to do afterschool program through the YWCA for teenagers with mental retardation and developmental disabilities and loved it. Strange how I ended up working in IT...
Anyway, I'm excited about the event since I heard it was semi-formal attire and I have 2 different groups of friends of mine going. So I get to look like a bad mamba jamba, donate money, and meet up with friends! I always get nervous though when I have very different groups of friends meeting each other for the first time. I'm pretty diverse in my friendships so there is usually at least some slight clashing or they don't want to have anything to do with one another. Then I have to split my time between the groups. I feel so torn. I'm sure it will be a good time regardless.
