More Florida Adventures.

So, for anyone who doesn't know, June is 'Hurricane Season' in Florida.  Last weekend/previous week was special, and by special, I mean that I didn't see the sun for a full 168 hours.  I don't think that's ever happened to me before.

So Tropical Storm Debbie hit it's stride last weekend.  Saturday was gonna go to Busch Gardens, but got rained out.  Went through my mail, found a good coupon... decided to go use it.

Sunday I didn't even dare open my door, there was so much wind and rain outside.  I couldn't really go very far without having to swim anyway.  So I made myself at home inside, decided I would finally take the time to catch up on my patient records for class, get about five entries in and the power goes out!  Yay!  I was without power for 12 hours.  The afternoon was ok, I wrote some more of my story because I still had daylight.  I ended up going to bed really early cus it's hard to do much of anything with only a flashlight.  It worked out because I had to go to a different clinic on monday which was even further, so I had to get up really early. The power came back on about 3am, and my air conditioning woke me up, and after that I slept much better knowing that my ice cream wasn't melting.

Monday was still pretty stormy on and off, but I went out on Tuesday to take some pics of the aftermath.

This is part of the tree that fell on our power lines leaving us without power for 12 hours!

The next couple pictures are from the park just across the street.  This tree had to be all chopped down! :(

This is just some of the debris that was cleaned up from the park piled in the parking lot.

Lots of Flooding.

I wanted to go out to the boardwalk, but it was all taped off.  I'm imagining it got a bit wet.

Lots of flooding everywhere.  And lots of road closures.

The turtles survived.

So did this guy.

Took this one for my mom  This is the billboard across the road that shines directly into my kitchen window at night... or at least it used to.  Mom had to get up on our first night here to close the kitchen curtains for me.  I'm really glad I took this pic because the whole thing is gone now.  I hope they don't put up another one.

Oh yeah, and here's a picture of me with my new hair cut!  That coupon I used on Saturday, it was for 5$ of a cut/style at the salon a few blocks from my place here.

Here's another one.  This one's outside and you can kinda get an idea of what my condo looks like.  That's all!

Coming up next week (since I don't seem to end up writing these until the next weekend) ... Pride Parade!
