So I kinda didn't get around to writing up for last weekend, and I'm a bit late for this weekend.  Well here it comes!

Saturday was kinda slow.  Watched thems saturday morning cartoons again... oh and a purchased a seasons pass online for Busch gardens.  Also went shopping and bought myself some new shorts cus I discovered that none of my shorts fit.  Good times.

On sunday I went to Busch gardens, by myself, but you know what, it was still pretty fun!  I met some random people in the line for the river rapids ride and ended up on the same boat with them.  Me and the guy next to me jinxed ourselves by saying that we managed to stay dry for the whole ride before the ride was over... then we got wet.  Followed them to the next ride, but after than we discovered that we had done the park in opposite directions, they were going to the rides I had already been on.  Got to all the roller coasters in the end, but then got completely lost trying to to get back to the main gates.  The park map was totally useless.  The park also has a zoo element, which was kinda cool, although not as cool as seeing those animals in the wild in Africa.  Although, watching hippo swim from under water vantage point was cool.  Went home, tried to update my Student log record, but the system was down.  Haven't had a good time to do all my catch up since.

Also, while I was out at Busch Gardens the girls who didn't invite me to do stuff last weekend called and invited me to go to a beach bar with them.  Unfortunately, I couldn't go, cus I was out riding roller coasters and such fun, but hey, it's something.

Friday night I tried to meet up with a friend from Orlando who was in Tampa for part of the week, but not having a phone kinda killed those plans.  Instead I went out to research getting a phone.  Turns out there's a lot of just month by month, and even day by day plans you can get... but none of them let you use your minutes or your texts to call/text Canada, making almost all of them completely useless, and over priced.  Looked into getting a calling card... each one charges a 80c connection fee for all international calls, so even a one minute phone call would cost me almost a dollar, I'm better off sending 60c text messages from my roaming koodo phone.

Oh, also, before all of this happened, I looked up the adress to the hotel of the convention... turns out I wrote it in my calendar wrong, totally not in Tampa, in Orlando.  Decided to go anyway.

Saturday I drove out to Orlando for Florida Anime Experience.  Reminded me a lot of Con-G and Con Bravo, smallish and newish con, run by a small group of people who just wanna have fun.  And it was pretty fun.  I met a bunch of cool people.  Got to chatting with two pony cosplayers in the washroom, and helped out of them fix their ears.  Turns out, they're both from Canada, working at Disney for the Epcot Canada pavilion, so I definitely have to go to Epcot and visit them.  :)  I wore my Len costume, totally worth it to haul my keytar all the way out here.  It got much love.  I entered the crossplay contest and the costume contest.  The whole system here is taking some getting used to.  Both contests were pretty fun, both just walk ons, if you want to do a skit you have to enter a different contest, the cosplay contest, which was on the sunday.  I wish I could have gone to the cosplay contest to see what sorts of things people do, because I'm mostly used to doing mini skit/walk-ons and I don't really know where they fit into this system.

Picked up a flier for Metro Con the big convention in Tampa in two weeks.  I had thought it was three... so opps!  Time to get to work on my costume!

Spent Sunday and most of monday working on my costume even though I should have been doing more important things.  Bought my tickets for the convention.  Decided to pre-enter the costume contest for Metro Con because they have an entry cap, and I doubt there will be many spots open day of.  The levels system doesn't have an artisan division so I guess I'm now a cosplay master!  It's a little intimidating, especially since a) my boots don't seem to be turning out very nice :(  They don't fit right, but they look ok from the side, and my costume isn't anywhere near done atm. and b) I still don't understand this system... the costume contest here sounds like it's a runway show, so I have no idea what to expect.  I don't really have a skit or anything in mind for this costume or my len costume, otherwise I might try to enter the cosplay contest, but I dunno what counts as a skit.  I kinda just wanted to do a simple walk-on with Mami's theme music playing in the background, but I guess that's kinda out.  Oh well, we'll see.  I'm sure it'll be fun anyway, or if nothing else, a learning experience.

And right now I'm watching the training videos for the new electronic records the clinic here is switching to.  It's gonna be a muddled couple days.  Getting used to this system is gonna be craaazy!
