Hee!

No wonder it took you a while.
It's lovely, wonderfully sensitive and human.
Aww!
*gushes*

I also loved the view on the destruction from the civilian side
With Galactica as our guide and guardian ...
I never realized what it must have meant, noe that these were the motives for people to call their kids William (and not the other motives my mind drifted too to easily ;) *cough*)

This calls for follow up and more follows up, you understand that, don't you?
I so much love your style
*gushes more*

BTW: did you x-post a reference to it in thesmokingdoc?

OOC: *schnoogles Emma for lovely comments* Follow up will be forthcoming! Kia's turning out to be very talkative.

As for the post ... I have now. ;^)

*smiles*

Nice to meet you, my name's Shannon Weiss.

My pleasure, Shannon, if you don't mind first names. I'm Kia.

*wicked grin and chuckle* Subtle is not exactly the first word that jumps to mind when describing Jack Cottle ... but then you've already figured that out. *winks*

*laughs* He sounds like he's quite a character. I'd love to meet him.

OOC: As if I have to say it, but to be official, welcome to Redux ;)

Jack slowly lowered himself into a chair. He rubbed his bleary eyes and ran a hand through his white hair. "Those days are a blur. Most of what I remember is stark -- and mean." He sighed. "Calls from ships begging for medical care for their wounded. Captains begging for sedatives. Pilots, knuckledraggers, console jockeys, commanders…" Jack made a wry face. "Walking around utterly exhausted. Angry shocked stressed people reacting badly to circumstances…" He leaned back in his chair. "We lost close to 300 during those first five days."

He reached into his pockets, searching for a smoke, and finally pulled out a slightly crushed cigarette. Jack rolled it through his fingers to straighten it. "Over the next 36 hours we lost another 2000 - 1300 on the Olympic Carrier alone." He paused to light his cigarette and take a deep drag. "Then the Cylons stopped coming. They must have been tracking that ship…" He shook his head.

Kia came up behind Doc's chair, slid her arms around his neck and her hands down his chest.

"So glad to know I made such an excellent first impression," she chuckled as she bent down to nuzzle his neck.
