Yesterday these bastards monkeys hijacked vessel of Odessa based shipowner!

A Ukrainian-owned ro-ro vessel has become the latest vessel to be hijacked off the coast of Somalia.

The 9,019-gt Faina (built 1978) was seized on Thursday according to reports from Kenya and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Pirates are said to have commandeered the Belize-flagged ship, which was on its way to the Kenyan port of Mombasa.

“The captain reported that three cutter boats with armed people approached the Faina, and then communication was cut off,” Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said.

“The ship was transporting military hardware, including some 30 T-72 tanks and spare parts for armored vehicles,” Russia's Interfax news agency said.

“Reports on the nature of this ship's cargo are being verified,” said officials, adding that there were 21 people on board: 17 Ukrainians, three Russians and a Latvian.

Meanwhile, Canada has said it will extend the deployment of a frigate protecting World Food Program (WFP) aid shipments to Somalia.

The Ville de Quebec will continue to escort food shipments to Somalia until 23 October, the Canadian navy said in a statement.

The frigate was due to complete a six-week mission guarding aid ships from pirates at the end of September.Canada said it would continue escorting the ships in order to give the WFP more time to find another navy to guard relief shipments.

The situation is uncontrollable to the extent that ship-owners must cross machine guns instead of fingures!
