Garden

I post this on may 28, 2007 in my myspace account. I think it's time for it to join the other garden posts here in my live journal where it belongs. It is part of who I am, this garden and it shouldn't be outcasts just because someone might read it be offended.

A thin shaft of moonlight stole across the damp, emerald green grass. A few stars appeared overhead, adding a fairly tale glow to the few roses that had found the courage to bloom. The sheer rock walls that fenced in the hidden garden stretched upward as though they were reaching forever toward the stars themselves. The young woman didn't really feel the wetness under her bare feet as she trod the familar paths. She knew them better than she knew herself. The moonlight touched her blond hair, highlighting the hallow sadness in her blue eyes. The trail ended at a apparently random spot along the cliff, one hand reached out to touch the lumpy stone, feeling it's coolness against her warm fingers. She could feel the prescence of the few people that roamed the long halls behind the hidden door. She could also see them if she so chose, viewing that world through the eyes of her guard. The guard that had taken her shape, letting those within believe they were close to her. There was one less now. A clackling of heels and announced the exit of one of the few allowed so close. One less was good, she steeled herself against the rush of pain that followed that thought, but could not stop the next thought. How long until the halls no longer echoed with anyones voice? She rested her forehead on the rock just below her hand, and let the tears fall. A heart too tender she had walled herself in, it was the safest place, if only there was a way to stop the caring. "Good-bye," She said to the earless wall, then turned away, casting a quick glance upward through tear filled eyes, at the watching moon. It alone could see.
