The REAL Story Behind Claire of the Moon

Mar 31, 2007 01:06

Ah my lovlies you thought you could escape March without a ramble from yours truly? No such luck dear ones. I'm am still here /Shirley MacLaine a la Postcards from the Edge. You can possibly guess the cause of my inspired ramble (THC is always a fair bet) damn I totally forgot what I wanted to write about. Oh well. How about this confession, holyinnocent I own a copy of Claire of the Moon. I even own a copy of the novel. Now I know what you're thinking, but wait, give me a minute. I was 18 when Claire came out (literally and figuratively) and it was the first movie I saw that had two women kissing. I became addicted to this film, this was my one connection to what lesbians were. I was not unlike the gay housewives who read the dirty predatory lesbians novels of the 50's and 60's. So yes, when I was 18, I thought all lesbians were neatly divided into the clans dipicted in Claire. Now I know that the distinctions, while possessing a certain validity, are never as neat and tidy as depictions. So what do I think of it at 30 (argh everytime I utter that number it is like a dagger in my heart)? In short ladies, if you think Nicole Conn can't direct a movie you should try reading her attempt at prose; it makes the movie look like genius.
