It is mostly love at the moment, aside from my above-mentioned dislike of Clana (ah, a fandom with smooshing of ships. I knew I'd wind up in one eventually. Maybe we should start that in LJS. There could be some hilarious names. Imagine the joy of Damon / Bonnie as the shippers pronounce it Donnie (Osmond) - all teeth and creepiness! Thrill to the wonders of One Matt and His Dog as the Matt / Tyler authors get their groove on. Of course, no one is quite as post-modern and cool as the Zulian ficcers... I could go on all day.)
Watching the whole series in one go kind of highlighted both the themes and the flaws. Clark's guilt, for example. The meteors. The love of big bangs on the show. The way all the freak of the week villains actually looked kinda similar.
I enjoy the themes of family in the show. I think that's something I don't get much of in my other shows (Buffy, Bones, Dr Who, Scrubs.) so it's good to see a series approach it consistently.
I do like Lex. I am really drawn by his attempts (thus far) to fight his reputation, and his ability to apply morals as and when he needs them. Zero was a great episode. (Plus the abandoned nightclub set? Atmospheric as hell.)
Sure, I would definitely appreciate later recs! I am ordering S2 ASAP, so I reckon in a month or so I'll be a few seasons in.
I wil try to minimise my Clana rants. I am quite sure everyone saw enough of those years ago without me screeching away like a demented banshee x years late.
Oh, and Whitney? Boy, did I feel sorry for him. And his end of season haircut came too late, damnit! He looked much better once he had lost the boyband bangs. .
I will try to get some ideas down as and when :) I will probably go back and revise Starcrossed now I have a better idea of the character than what Wiki gave me!
