Memories and Associations

The effects of reading (and WHAT you read) are rather interesting as I noticed the other day that I find music to associate memories to b/c I've read so much about the human mind, particularly about how memories form, and general psychology. The last book I actually finished was The Myth of Sanity. It describes how things we've experienced can be tucked away in the mind (as a survival mechanism) and if we're lucky, we may never remember them. Sounds, colors, images, all have strong associations in our memories so I make it a point to listen to certain types of music at particular times - even if I'm doing it subconsciously, which is what I just noticed by listening to the BSG soundtrack.

People often note that I'm always wearing pink. I find it interesting, still, to note my obsession w/ it (clothes, nail polish, accessories) b/c it started when I was getting divorced. It's rather significant in my life, not just a color, as I wonder what the significance is to any particular piece of clothing or otherwise that people wear frequently. Maybe theirs is associated to s/thing that they don't even understand.

After reading that book and seeing how even the smallest things can affect our brains, and what our brains unconsciously decide to do w/ that information, I find myself a little more wary about what a person may be hiding that may rear its ugly head in the future.

Ugh. Going back to the pleasantries that the favorites collection I made of the BSG series does for me.

I just want to say that in my currently non-sober state, I hug all of my friends. I'm glad nothing has gone horribly wrong to make me feel like I'm in a movie. lol
