Hurry up December 7th!
I'm currently listening to the audio book of The Golden Compass during my commute, and I'm loving the story so far. I'd seen the previews for the movie (OUT DECEMBER 7th!!) when we went to go see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and remembered that I'd bought the series for my niece a couple of years ago for Christmas, but never had the chance to read them. Well, after seeing the movie preview, I borrowed a friend of mine's audiobook copy of the first book and I can only say that its a thoroughly entertaining, intriguing and engaging book. The world the author has created is thoroghly unique. The previews I've scoped out (and I've looked up as many as I could find!) are dazzling, along the scale of Lord of the Rings - and I can only hope that the movie is every bit as good as the previews make it appear to be, and not a massive let down the way Eragon was.
