5-4 Canucks (vs. Oilers)
So Thursday.
I got home from my vertebrate lab and found out that Jessica had dropped off a pair of Canuck preseason tickets which she got for free from volunteering at the Children's Hospital. Laird didn't want to go, so I brought a very excited Jason, who had to bring along his homework to do during intermissions.
I'd forgotten how different watching it at the arena is compared to watching on tv. Pretty good seats. Row 23 off one of the corners. We were lucky it was a high scoring game. I think seven of the nine goals were scored in our end. Some really pretty goals too, like Kesler's, some prospect scoring from his knees like Ovechkin/Crosby, and Henrik to Daniel. On the down side lots of players were missing including Luongo, Pyatt, Morrison, Naslund, Ohlund, Salo, Bieska, Cowan, Linden, Burrows - heck, less than half of the team was there, but there were lots of goals and lots of fights to make up for it.
Jason's favourite part was definitely a tie between watching the Wave grow in strength and standing up as Isbister got the puck and started a two on one as a penalized Canuck came out of the penalty box. Everyone was on their feet and when Isbister scored, it was just awesome. We didn't even realize that there was only 2 seconds left in the game. We forgot to stick around for the Three Stars, though. :P
