So its the youtube racists vs. the 2ch racists. One can be racially arrogant over the other. I'm with the 2ch one because... I'm a happy anti-idiot white campaigner too. As I tell my friends, stupidity expands tenfolds. Anyway... news on it at Mari's account on the You Tube events. Snagged from Anne originally, but as I read more and watched more, the more that I am convinced that this is again historically, all about miseducation and misunderstanding. Some comments were interesting. On the other end, I was... well, I was merely observing things unfold. And for this entry, excuse me for saying the word "Jap" too often. It's a term dear to me because it's a historical term like nigger. More so, it reminds me of that superman comic with the "Slap a Jap" on the cover. XD
The basics. Some dude posted a video about this Jap comedian who was lamenting over the lost of his comedy partner because he was accused of raping a 17 year old girl (wonder if she's in one of those 'soap' bars or something). So some idiotic american posted something like "What's with this Fuckin' Jap shit?" and ended with 'Fuck this jap/china shit!! Speak English!!" (and notice how, if it were a raw idiotic comedy video, they won't complain, ne?). The Japs, particularly the 2ch people are on all out war against them who don't like Japs in You Tube. Hence, when a guy who posted a video giving a lecture to these idiot Americans, and the only things that the Japs understood were "Fuck" and "Jap", they went on a war against him. Some knew later on that it was a misunderstanding but many in 2ch didn't budge (ahh~! See how group theory works!) Then a girl who spoke Japanese quite well explained things to the Japanese to please *cough* let's be dramatic about this 'stop the war', the Japs went all out against her (poor girl really) and made fun of her lovely memories of Japan. I doubt they went as far as stalking her around Japan. I doubt though. Although she has deleted her Japanese blog in LJ and locked her pictures of her stay in Japan.
On the end of the first attack, Japan had the right to retaliate. It was something important to them hence it was shared in you tube for everyone to see. Imagine if someone made a blow on the youtube shit that we have about Philippine Idol and then some absent-minded white kid goes "Fuck those Flip! Go back to your Island!" right? I guess they have every right to brew a bit of annoyance towards the... idiotic white. I'm not saying all whites are idiots. There are the smartest of them... and then there are those who just refuse to learn.
The next turn of events, is what I would say as 2ch's brand of all out war. Despite the lecture videos in English and the Japanese apology, the 2ch people never fail at rubbing their noses and snorting at the west. To them, the fact that you have guys lecturing one of their own, as well as a girl apologizing for the fault of some idiots, is just a proof of a society who has no control of their own. Of course Japan too has its own mishaps, but they know how to hush when to hush. And when its a declaration of war... the guys in 2ch never fail to leave the rudest remarks to users. They have snorted at the Koreans and have made a mark in leaving a very arrogant impression when that Anti-Korean manga came out. I would have to say that years of Orientalism has given them the right to do this, and even I at times, would do this for every idiot American that I encounter. It is this very brand of Japanese arrogance that is basically some people should be aware of. Dude, whatever you see in anime, is just a quarter of the whole Japanese personality.
I mean please people, just because you watch Densha Otoko doesn't mean that every one in 2ch or in the net in Japan are as nice and lovey dovey as those that came out in the series. Not every Japanese guy come out of their rooms all steamy with flowers around their faces. If the rest of the world can be evil and sarcastic, they too are just as sarcastic and as cruel as the next. I love this snide remark from the 2ch forums.

Slightly grammatically incorrect, but from a country whose history had shaky beginnings yet with a strong ancient line, they have every right to say how US is a village without a blood history or connections with the land they call their country. Historically speaking, they are a little like Australia. it's just that Australia got the juvies, and the Americans got the shakers... which you might say... are the nutcases of that time.
Anyway, my point is best said that idiocy like this is the reason why the Japanese just love closing their doors and away from people who would like to know more about their country. This is the reason why foreign IPs can't reply in 2ch or Futabach (and now the center of all idiocy is in 4ch). There is also a lesson learned here, other than another slap on the Gaijin's face as well as another wall built for the gaijin otaku... it's called "The world is big and we know that. But you idiots don't. So if you piss us off, we're not scared to declare a war." It's easy for them to let us go because honestly, in their world entertainment, they don't need the likes of Gaijins to make some fun. As much as they oggle over Tom Cruise, they also have KimuTaku. The fact that we look at them for funny vids to animes just prove a point how some of us are quite dependent on them. Among other things, this is also a realization that the world of You Tube is no longer just within the grasp of the english speaking folks. It is as much open to foreigners such as the Japanese hence needing the necessary respect o every country on earth. I believe... this is the best thing to put all things to a close.
